Armando Lasauca was a street seller of shirts. In 1985 he opened his first store in Barcelona, ​​Massimo Dutti. The name of the brand came about in a rather curious way, his friends called him Armanduti, hence the name Dutti, and the name Massimo… because when Armando spoke he kept repeating the expression “this is the best, this is the best”. Well, no, it was not an Italian clothing store, as most of us thought!

At first they only sold shirts, very few designs at affordable prices. The enormous success of their business model led them to open a chain of stores. In 1991 they were bought by the Inditex group.
